About the role
What you'll do
Camunda, the agentic process orchestration platform, is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer for its Data Layer team. You will build and run the services that store and serve Camunda 8's process data across relational databases and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, lead projects end to end with product teams, improve performance at scale, and take part in L3 support and on-call.
Requirements
- 7+ years as a backend engineer in Java, focused on production data stores
- Deep experience with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL) and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch
- Track record leading multi-month engineering initiatives end to end
- Comfortable debugging slow queries, execution plans and indexes
- Clear communication in a remote-first team
