About the role
What you'll do
Kraken is looking for a senior Rust engineer to set technical direction for its Consumer apps, the simplest way customers trade, pay and use crypto on the platform. You'll own the architecture of customer-facing backend services, take multi-quarter problems from idea to launch, shape the product roadmap with leadership and mentor mid-level engineers.
Requirements
- 6+ years of backend engineering with deep Rust experience
- Distributed systems design: async code, RPC, Kafka and event-driven architectures
- A record of owning production systems and the architectural trade-offs behind them
- Product mindset with a focus on customer experience and metrics
- Comfort using AI tools heavily in day-to-day engineering
Fully remote; in Africa this role is open to candidates based in South Africa (other listed locations are in Europe and Latin America).
