About the role
What you'll do
Kraken's Payward Services unit builds the custody and settlement infrastructure that banks, fintechs and brokerages plug into. In this role you will design and ship TypeScript and Node.js microservices for custody, staking and wallet flows, connect them to blockchain networks, and contribute to internal React and Next.js tools. You will own your services from the design document through deployment and production support.
Requirements
- 3+ years of fullstack or backend engineering on high-availability systems
- Strong Node.js and TypeScript, ideally with NestJS or a similar framework
- Experience with event-driven microservices (Kafka), REST APIs and SQL schema design
- Working knowledge of React, Next.js and modern state management
- Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD and observability tools
Open to remote candidates based in South Africa (alongside other listed countries in Europe and Latin America); no fixed shift is stated.
