About the Product Manager Role

They are looking for a Senior Product Manager for the BCM Tech division, which runs all their in-house technical projects. The projects you’ll be dealing with will be split between new digital products and maintenance and updates of existing online sites and publications.

What do you need to be considered successful?

The Product Manager will manage timelines, securing time and resource commitment from teams delivering towards projects, and ensuring projects are delivered in a timely manner. You will also be responsible for the following:

  • Product definition; gather input from stakeholders and analyse current use, perceived needs and feasible solutions.
  • Assess risks and opportunities with different delivery options and create and manage timelines (with buy-in from stakeholders) for realisation
  • Work with teams within BCM to secure resources and time towards delivery of projects (e.g. designs, launch events, programming etc.)
  • Continuously evaluate progress, and provide regular status updates to stakeholders

How Important are you to the bottom line?

The role will ideally need someone that is knowledgeable about running medium-sized digital projects, that has an understanding of technical requirements and has good experience with handling stakeholders and gathering and building requirement specifications.

This role poses the challenge of defining software solutions that is targeted at fulfilling multiple tasks for different categories of users.

You also have to be able to seamlessly weave between cross-functional teams in order to build software solutions with a growth mindset while being able to communicate product vision to non-technical stakeholders.

What do you need to have done in your career?

  • Proven experience with digital product management
  • Experience with writing technical requirement specifications
  • Surface or deeper knowledge of key internet technologies and their capabilities
  • Proven ability to work with people from different disciplines (tech, marketing, etc.)
  • A good understanding of business requirements for new products (assessing features and requirements in light of return on investment and resource costs)
  • Experience visualising project plans using simple Gantt charts or similar techniques
